Common identification methods for PP waste

Publish Time: 2024-06-13

We start by distinguishing them by smell. The difference between PP and PE is that PP has a fragrance, PE just has the smell of burning candles, and PP smells like the smell of the plastic skin outside the cigarette shell burning when smoking. There are slightly different differences between various grades of PP and PP materials from different countries, so they should be treated differently. When the plastic burns, you can observe its bubbles while looking at the flame. The larger the bubbles, the worse the material. There are almost no bubbles visible to the naked eye in the new material. The difference between its bubbles and those of the new material can tell which grade of material it is.

No matter what kind of PP it is, you can use wire drawing to see its quality after burning. Copolymers cool quickly, while homopolymers cool slowly. Generally, materials with good wire drawing effects are very pure, and those that cannot be drawn into wires are considered to be poor, indicating that they have more fillings.

You can also judge the filling content by whether there are small bumps in the drawn wire. The above is a continuous process. First, take a small sample, hold it in your hand, find an open place with shelter from the wind and burn it. After burning for 3-5 seconds, blow it out with your mouth. Immediately bring the burned material to your nose and smell it. Compare it with the smell of the new PP material to distinguish the difference. You can use an iron sheet to pry apart the melted but not cooled PP to see if there is any filling or impurities inside. The two relatively important points in this link are to distinguish whether the smell is pure and to see if there is obvious filling in the melted material. In this way, you can know which grade it belongs to, so that you can set the price.
