Modified plastic particles flame retardant properties:
Polypropylene is a thermoplastic polymer (thermoplastic: refers to a material that can be melted after heating and hardened after cooling, and can be repeated. Polymer: refers to a natural or synthetic compound whose molecules are macromolecules connected by a series of simple monomers repeatedly). It is widely used, and even Australian banknotes are made of PP. PP has an extraordinary resistance to chemical solvents, acids and alkalis. It can produce high-purity PP for use in the semiconductor industry. It is also resistant to bacterial production and is suitable for disposable syringes and medical equipment. It can be used for injection molding or machining and welding. It can be used for pipes, filter materials, horns and other plastic products with higher quality requirements than polyethylene products. Banknotes are made of biaxially stretched PP (BOPP), which improves its durability.
Creating new materials:
Chemical modification can not only change the properties of a resin, but also create new resin materials. Some of the resin materials currently used are obtained through modification, such as ultra-high molecular weight polyethylene (UHMPE), which is the product of chemical modification. This ultra-high molecular weight polyethylene greatly improves the mechanical properties of HDPE materials. Its wear resistance and self-lubrication are better than other engineering plastics, and its mechanical properties and corrosion resistance are no less than those of polytetrafluoroethylene (PTFE). LLDPE is also obtained through chemical modification. It is a copolymer formed by introducing a small amount of a-olefin monomers such as butene, hexene, and octene into ethylene polymerization. It has a similar molecular configuration to HDPE, but with reduced density and crystallinity. LLDPE has good resistance to environmental stress cracking, and its mechanical properties are also better than LDPE, so its application range has also expanded accordingly. Chlorinated polyethylene (CPE) is also a product of chemical modification. It is the product of HDPE after chlorination. Chlorine (CL) partially replaces hydrogen (H) in the HDPE molecule, causing the molecule to be crystallized, making it softer and having a certain degree of elasticity. It can not only be processed into CPE products by extrusion or injection molding, and is widely used in construction, electrical appliances, etc., but CPE itself becomes an excellent modifier, which can improve the flame retardancy of PE materials and the impact resistance of PVC materials by physical blending.
Recycled plastic granule manufacturers choose environmentally friendly halogen-free flame-retardant PP materials to reduce corrosion. The reasons are as follows:
1. The main manifestations of halogen hazards in plastics
(1) A small amount of hydrogen halide will be released under heating conditions during processing, corroding machines or molds.
(2) Hydrogen halide gas will be released during combustion. Hydrogen halide dissolves in water and combines with water vapor in the air to form acid rain.
(3) During the combustion process, a large amount of toxic gas is produced on the one hand, and a large amount of dense smoke is also generated on the other hand. According to authoritative data statistics, more than 80% of deaths in fires are caused by dense smoke and toxic gases produced by material combustion.
